NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MILES McENERY GALLERY is pleased to announce representation of Fiona Rae.

Fiona Rae is an internationally regarded British artist whose abstract paintings expand the traditional boundaries of her field. Drawing on inspiration from Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, Japanese anime, computer games, fashion and typography, Rae’s brushmarks and gestures are often ambiguous in their intention and appear both spontaneous and controlled, improvised and yet purposeful. Rae’s paintings approach abstraction as a language to be investigated and challenged; her paintings include a wide array of pictorial marks and styles, the resulting imagery sometimes teetering on the edges of figurative legibility and the surreal. Fiona Rae’s paintings capture our attention and invite the viewer to consider the continuing and unique possibilities of painting in the contemporary digital age.

FIONA RAE (b. 1963, Hong Kong) studied at Croydon College of Art and received her Bachelor of Arts from Goldsmiths College in London.
