NOW REPRESENTING GABRIELLE GARLAND

The artist in her studio, New York, NY, 2024.

New York, New York — Miles McEnery Gallery is pleased to announce representation of Gabrielle Garland.

New York-based Gabrielle Garland’s paintings explore the concept of the home. Through both domestic exteriors and interiors, her personality-packed compositions take on an air of portraiture, albeit void of human figures. Rendered with undulating lines, skewed perspectives, and eclectically vibrant palettes, Garland personifies each unique architectural space, prompting the viewer to establish one’s own assumptions surrounding the inhabitants. At their core, the works present the timelessly innate human desire to make a place a home.

Gabrielle Garland  (b. 1968 in New York, NY) received her Master of Fine Arts at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL and her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Garland is also represented by Corbett vs. Dempsey in Chicago, IL and The Pit in Los Angeles, CA.

Garland has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Corbett vs. Dempsey, Chicago, IL; The Pit LA, Los Angeles, CA; Taymour Grahne Projects, London, United Kingdom; The Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery, Lewis University, Romeoville, IL; Hap Gallery, Portland, OR; and DOVA Temporary, Chicago, IL. Her inaugural exhibition with Miles McEnery Gallery will open in September 2025.

Recent group exhibitions have been held at The Pit LA, Los Angeles, CA; The Hole, New York, NY; Weinberg/Newton Gallery, Chicago, IL; DeVos Art Museum, Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI; 1969 Gallery, New York, NY; and Campbell Project Space, Sydney, Australia.
