Just steps from the hustle and bustle of Burlington, Vermont's Church Street Marketplace, the BCA Center welcomes visitors into a dreamlike world of imagination with its latest exhibition: "Jacob Hashimoto: a lowercase sky." This site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed artist Jacob Hashimoto brings together traditional techniques and a modern sensibility to create a captivating art experience in downtown Burlington.
Created exclusively for the BCA Center, "a lowercase sky" is comprised of hundreds of hand-crafted paper and bamboo kites spanning the gallery walls and ceilings, creating a mesmerizing visual landscape from every angle. Hashimoto and his assistant, Derek Zeitel, spent four full days building the installation in response to the unique architecture of the BCA Center, which is housed in a historic 1889 firehouse.
On view through September 14, "a lowercase sky," is a must-see part of Summer in the City, Burlington’s seasonal celebration of art, music, and culture that brings more than 80 free events to downtown — filling the city with energy, creativity, and community vibrancy.
