Employing imagery of sunsets, regional grasses, weaving patterns, and architectural motifs, “The Asymmetrical Mathematics of Memory” by Jacob Hashimoto catches the desert light within the triple-height atrium at the brand new US Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia. From the perimeter stair that surrounds the space, one walks up to and beside the piece as it lunges up from the lower floor into the air. The kites register the color of the sky throughout the day as they absorb the light flowing in from the window walls adjacent.
