Returning for its second edition in January 2020, Taipei Dangdai is Taipei's global art fair featuring a world-class lineup of galleries, selected via a rigorous application process overseen by a committee of international gallerists.
Presented by UBS, the event brings together a selection of the world’s leading galleries and artists alongside influential thinkers from a wide range of disciplines, including archaeology, art history and technology.
The fair’s unique, multi-disciplinary program features four curated Sectors: Galleries, Young Galleries, Solos and Salon, providing visitors with an opportunity to discover presentations from established galleries, alongside work by emerging artists at accessible price points. An Ideas Program unites industry experts from Taipei, the wider region and beyond to discuss how art exists in the past, present and future, celebrating a long-term patronage with art and ideas across disciplines and cultures.
Taipei Dangdai celebrates the city’s unique and dynamic arts scene, while highlighting global creativity and the increasing importance of the wider art market in Asia.
We look forward to presenting works by Tomory Dodge, Inka Essenhigh, Beverly Fishman, Markus Linnenbrink, Ryan McGinness, Michael Reafsnyder, and Patrick Wilson at Taipei Dangdai this January, 2020.
The inaugural edition was a surprisingly big success. As year two kicks off, here's what to look for.
Last year, the fledgling new art fair Taipei Dangdai: Art & Ideas made mincemeat of the commonly held belief that it takes a fair a few years to build a solid art world following. The inaugural edition turned out big-name blue-chip galleries, famed global collectors (and Chinese movie stars), and, most importantly, robust sales. Oh, and yes, the fair even had its very own giant inflatable KAWS sculpture to draw in the crowds.
